Basement Protect Cement

Waterproof cement coating

Basement Protect Cement is a white, waterproof cement coating for waterproofing basement walls or other underground structures made of concrete or cement. The cement coating is effective and permanent, even on damp substrates. Small leaks allow dirt and bacteria to enter your basement. Applying Basement Protect Cement prevents this and helps make your basement waterproof.

Step-by-step plan

  1. Make the substrate dust-free, grease-free and absorbent.
  2. Remove any loose cement, plaster, paint residue, efflorescence and mould with a pressure washer or wire brush.
  3. Seal cracks, fissures and leaks at the cove joint between the floor and wall with Basement Protect Regular Plug.
  4. Rinse the prepared surface thoroughly with water.
  5. Mix 5 parts Aquaplan Basement Protect Cement powder with 1 part clean tap water. Mix well until a lump-free mass is formed. It’s ready when the special basement brush can stand upright in the mixture. Allow the mixture to rest for 5 minutes, then stir well again. Do not make more than can be used within 45 minutes.
  6. Moisten the substrate and apply two coats of Basement Protect Cement crosswise with the special basement brush at a rate of 1.5–2 kg/m², depending on the type of substrate. The coat thickness should be at least 1 mm.
  7. Wait about 24 hours before applying the second coat. Lightly moisten the substrate before application.
